Man in custody for defiling minor in Lilongwe

Police in Lilongwe have arrested a 34 year-old man for  allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl between the months of January and February 2026.

Deputy spokesperson for Lilongwe police Sergeant Khumbo Sanyiwa, has confirmed the arrest and identified the suspect as Kumbukani Alumeyo,

According to Sanyiwa,  Alumeyo (suspect) was the neighbor to the victim’s parents and he initiated a sexual relationship with the girl despite knowing she was underage.

The suspect had been having multiple sexual encounters with the victim at his house in Njewa Village.

It was known when the victim missed her menstrual period in March ,and upon questioning her, she disclosed that she has been having sex with Alumeyo who had that time travelled to Dwangwa.

Lilongwe Police officers instituted investigations which led to the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect will be taken to court soon to answer the charge of having sexual intercourse with a minor .

Kumbukani Alumeyo hails  from Nalingula 2 Village , Traditional Authority Kaduya in Phalombe District.
