An entrepreneur popularly known on Facebook as Ada Dalk, whose real name is Urunji Mezuwa, has asked Brian Banda to consider banning the long-running radio programme “Nkhani Za Ma Boma” aired on Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Radio 1 and Radio 2.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Mezuwa argued that the programme broadcasts unverified stories which he says are spreading hate, fear and irrational thinking among Malawians.

He further claimed that Radio 1 has a large audience in rural areas, where many listeners heavily rely on radio for information, warning that such content could negatively influence communities.

Mezuwa proposed that the programme should instead be replaced with civic education content aimed at promoting awareness and responsible public discourse.

The call comes amid growing concern over false claims involving the alleged disappearance of male private parts, rumours that have triggered panic and mob violence in Nsanje District and Chikwawa District.

More than six people have reportedly lost their lives in attacks linked to the rumours, while dozens of others have been arrested in connection with the violence and the spread of false information.
