Lingadzi Police in Lilongwe have arrested eight people for allegedly forging documents and impersonating government officials to scam job seekers.

Lingadzi Police Publicist Maria Kumwenda said the suspects were advertising fake job openings in various ministries, including positions such as messengers, soldiers, health surveillance assistants, and drivers.

Applicants were asked to pay between K230,000 and K600,000.

The group was also issuing fake Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) papers to victims who lacked qualifications.

They were arrested at Royal Gardens in Area 18 while conducting fake interviews after a tip-off. Fake offer letters and certificates have been recovered.
