Ntcheu Secondary School Student Dies After Allegedly Taking Poison

A Form Two student at Ntcheu Secondary School, identified as Hannah Kasiya, 15, died yesterday after allegedly consuming poison.

Head teacher Bambiro Kumwenda said the student around 2 PM complained of feeling unwell and was accompanied to hospital by fellow students.

According to Kumwenda, after leaving the hospital, Hannah reportedly told her friends that she wanted to buy some items at the market before returning to the school campus with them.

However, shortly after settling into the hostel, she reportedly began crying out in pain, complaining of severe stomach aches, before revealing that she had taken poison.

Her friends immediately gave her milk and informed teachers, who rushed her back to hospital where she later died while receiving treatment.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be fully established.
