Salima Teenager Jailed 7 Years for Defiling 11-Year-Old Girl

The Salima First Grade Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 19-year-old man, Lonjezo Patrick, to 84 months imprisonment with hard labour (IHL) for defiling an 11-year-old girl.
State prosecutor Winford Mawindo told the court that Patrick committed the offence when he intercepted the victim on her way home from school and forced himself on her.
Mawindo further told the court that after the ordeal, the minor reported the matter to her parents who later reported to police.
A medical examination report from Khombedza Health Centre confirmed that the girl was indeed defiled.
Passing sentence, First Grade Magistrate Imran Phiri condemned the convict’s actions and ordered him to serve 84 months in prison to deter other would-be offenders.
Patrick hails from the area of Traditional Authority in Salima District.
