Red Lions Football Club have completed the signing of promising forward Latif Sharif from Manchester Motor Spares FC on a one-year loan deal.

The Zomba-based side moved for the youngster following his outstanding performances in the 2025/26 Blantyre District First Capital Bank Katswiri Under-19 League.

The boy from Manase Township, Sharif enjoyed a remarkable season after scoring 26 goals, setting a new club scoring record and winning the league’s Golden Boot Award.

The pacey forward, who can also play as a winger, further impressed during the African Herbal Mixture tournament where he continued his fine scoring form.

His performances also attracted the attention of Millias Jegwe Pofera, who has reportedly started including him in the Malawi national under-20 football team setup.

Sharif joined Manchester Motor Spares in 2024 and has spent two seasons with the club before sealing the move to the FDH Bank Premiership side.

The transfer makes him the third player developed by Manchester Motor Spares to reach Malawi’s top-flight league, following Madalitso Safuli of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and goalkeeper Austin Chirambo, who is on loan at LUANAR Mitundu FC.
