Prison Warder Arrested For Defil!ng 6 Year-old Girl in Kasungu

A Prison warder at Kasungu Prison Farm, Benson Mbalame is in police custody at Kasungu Police Station, for allegedly defiling a 6 year old girl on 4 June 2026 at Linyangwa in the district.

Central East Police Region Spokesperson, Esther Mkwanda says on the said date, the victim was following a friend and later met Mbalame who took advantage of her age by commiting the offence.

Mkwanda said the suspect who will appeal in court soon, gave the victim K2000 to keep a secret of what had happened.

She has told us that parents to the victim discovered that their daughter was having difficulties walking before she revealed to have been defiled by Mbalame, which was confirmed by a hospital test.

Recently, Police in Kasungu arrested two teachers for defiling underage girls.
