One Dead, Another Seriously Injured in Chitipa Road Crash as Driver Flees Scene

Information reaching us indicates that a 60-year-old man, identified as Born Mswero, has died while another person sustained serious injuries following a road accident at Kafola Trading Centre along the Chitipa–Mbilima earth road in Chitipa.
According to Chitipa Police Public Relations Officer Rabson Mkandawire, the accident occurred at around 1:37 a.m. when a Toyota Sienta travelling from Chitipa towards Mbilima collided head-on with a T-Better motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
Mkandawire said the impact left the motorcycle rider with a severe open fracture to the thigh bone.
The rider was rushed to Chitipa District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The motorcycle’s pillion passenger sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota Sienta reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Police have since launched investigations and are searching for the driver.
