Police in Blantyre have confirmed the death of a 48-year-old man, White Sani, who is suspected to have died after taking pills believed to enhance sexual performance.
According to Blantyre Police deputy spokesperson Doris Mwitha, the incident occurred on Sunday when Sani and his 34-year-old female companion checked into a lodge in the city.
Police say Sani allegedly consumed sexual enhancement medication before engaging in sexual activity. However, he reportedly collapsed while attempting a third round of intercourse.
His companion alerted lodge staff, who rushed him to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for medical attention.
Mwitha said Sani was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
A post-mortem examination later revealed that he died from heart failure triggered by the medication he had taken to boost sexual performance.
Police have since advised members of the public to seek medical guidance before using any drugs or substances intended to enhance sexual performance.
