Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Water Resources Authority (NWRA), Dwight Kambuku, has resigned from his position, citing concerns that ongoing investigations at the institution are aimed at finding grounds to remove him from office.

In a resignation letter seen by the media, Kambuku claims that during a board meeting held in February this year, board members rejected an audit report prepared by the National Audit Office and instead resolved to conduct their own investigations into the authority.

According to Kambuku, the decision raised concerns that there were deliberate efforts to build a case against him and ultimately force him out of office.

The resignation letter further states that while he was on what he describes as a forced leave, he learned that the authority had already recruited another person to take up his position despite the fact that his contract was due to run until 2028.

Kambuku says these developments influenced his decision to step down from the role.

He has since confirmed the authenticity of the resignation letter.

The development comes as investigations within the authority continue, although NWRA has not yet publicly commented on the allegations raised by its former chief executive.
