Village Headman Arrested for Defil!ng 17 Year Old Epileptic Girl

Police at Zalewa have arrested Village Headman Mtengula of Neno District for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 17 year old girl who lives with epilepsy.

Neno Police Station Spokesperson Rebecca Msoliza identified the traditional leader by his real name, Moses Chimutu. She stated that the suspect is believed to have been sexually exploiting the minor repeatedly over a period of five months.

According to Msoliza, the illicit relationship came to light after the victim’s mother discovered her daughter in possession of a K5000 bank note. Upon being questioned by her mother, the teenager revealed that she received the cash from the village headman, who had been routinely forcing himself on her inside his grocery store.

The matter was immediately reported to Zalewa Police, who subsequently referred the young girl to the hospital for medical examination. Medical tests conducted at the facility confirmed that the victim had been sexually assaulted.
