Bangwe Police Arrest 21 Year Old Man for Defiling a Minor in Blantyre

Police at Bangwe in Blantyre have arrested a 21 year old man, Humphrey Symon, for allegedly defiling a 14 year old girl at Mondiwa under Traditional Authority Machinjiri in the district.

Bangwe Police Station Spokesperson Sam Kadyole confirmed the arrest, explaining that on 22 June 2026, the victim’s mother noticed that her daughter went missing. The young girl was subsequently found the following morning at Naizi Primary School.

According to Kadyole, when the mother questioned her daughter about her whereabouts, the teenager revealed that Symon had intimidated her and forced her to go to his house. She further disclosed that the suspect assaulted her twice before letting her leave the house.

Kadyole added that the mother immediately reported the matter to Bangwe Police, leading to the prompt arrest of Symon. Law enforcement officers took the minor to Group Hospital where medical examinations confirmed that she had indeed been defiled.

The suspect, Humphrey Symon, comes from Chiswe, and he is expected to appear before the court soon to answer charges of defilement.
