51 Year Old Man Gets 10 Year Jail-term for Defiling Three Year Old Child

The Mponela First Grade Magistrate’s Court has sentenced 51 year old Harrison Chimpeni to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a three year old child.
State Prosecutor Tionge Nkhoma informed the court that Chimpeni committed the offence on 5 May 2025. The matter was subsequently reported to the police, which led to his immediate arrest.
When appearing in court, Chimpeni denied the charges brought against him. His denial prompted the prosecution to present two witnesses who provided vital testimonies to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Delivering the verdict, First Grade Magistrate Talakwanji Mndala concurred with the prosecution’s submissions regarding the severity of the crime. Magistrate Mndala ruled that Chimpeni deserved a stiff penalty and ordered him to serve 10 years in prison with hard labour to deter other potential offenders.
