A Malawian national has died while being repatriated from South Africa after reportedly falling ill during the journey to the Beitbridge border post.
Authorities said the man had already completed immigration processing at the repatriation centre in Musina, Limpopo, and was travelling on a bus transporting Malawian returnees to the border when he collapsed.
According to information reported by SABC News, the man complained of feeling unwell before collapsing on the bus. He was later confirmed dead.
The deceased was among a group of Malawian nationals voluntarily returning home under a repatriation exercise coordinated by Malawi’s Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA).
The circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be fully established.
