Young Teacher Dies Before Joining MSCE Marking Exercise in Dowa

A young secondary school teacher, Brino Banda, has died just a day before he was due to leave for the 2026 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) marking exercise.

Banda was a teacher at Dzoole Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Mponela, Dowa District, and was expected to join fellow educators marking this year’s national examinations.

He graduated from Mzuzu University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in Geography and History, before being recruited by the Ministry of Education as a secondary school teacher.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
