MEC TO ANNOUNCE PRESIDENTIAL RESULTS NEXT WEEK

Malawians must hold on a little to their patience if the leaked information coming in from the Malawi Electoral Commission is anything to go by.

According to the leaked info, Mec will start by dealing with the 135 complaints it has on its table before confirming the unofficial results that have indicated that Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is the winner of the elections.

The Peoples’ Party (PP) of Joyce Banda has lodged a complaint with Mec that the DPP rigged the elections and has been demanding a recount of the votes. The PP has been saying that the votes need to be counted manually even though the vote was already done manually at center level.

The accusations of the PP are now being shared by the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate Atupele Muluzi who has gone further to call for the resignation of Mec chair, Maxon Mbendera.
