THREE PEOPLE NABBED FOR TRYING TO SMUGGLE IVORY

Two Chinese nationals and a Malawian are in police custody after being intercepted at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe following the recovery of ivory weighing over 50kgs.

Police Public Relations Officer Kaitano Lubrino confirmed of the arrest and said the ivory was about to be exported through Kamuzu International Airport.

The suspects were arrested after the police at the airport got suspicion on some cartons which were about to be exported.

The Malawi suspect is Mark Nyirenda, 25 who hails from Emanyaleni in the area of T/A Mtwalo in Mzimba.

The Chinese nationals are identified as Kaky Thiang, 43 and Axin Zhang 25.
