BRUTAL MURDER OF ACB’s DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE SERVICES LINKED TO CASHGATE

As Malawians continue to debate over the recent brutal murder of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director of Corporate Service Issa Njauju, the Police have linked his death to the ongoing investigation to the looting of public funds dubbed cashgate.

Njauju’s body was thrown aside presidential villas along presidential drive in the capital city’s Area 44 on July 2 2015 while his official vehicle was burnt to ashes at Msiliza.

His death attracted mixed reaction from all corners with others question the state of security in the country especially for those people working at ACB.

Speaking during a media briefing on Wednesday at Police headquarters in Lilongwe, Richard Luhanga said the investigators are pursuing a number of conspiracies.

“We cannot rule out that the murder is connected to his work [at ACB),” said Luhanga, a senior police commissioner.

“What we are doing right now is to connect the dots,” he said.

Luhanga said police are following up “a sequence of events” that took place a day before Njauju was murdered.

He also disclosed that Police have stepped up security of all workers at ACB and those working in the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to ensure smooth investigation and prosecution of cashgate suspects.
