REJECTED PP CANDIDATE FOR CHIBANJA WARD SUES MEC

The rejected opposition People’s Party (PP) candidate for Chibanja Ward in Mzuzu Blackson Kalwena Gondwe has sued the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), protesting his disqualification.

MEC disqualified Gondwe on the grounds that he used forged identification card and that he obtained registration fraudulently.

The development forced the Malawi Police in Mzuzu to start hunting for perjury.

In court file seen by FaceofMalawi, Gondwe has argued that the Voters identity that is in his position issued my MEC to prove his legal registration.

PP provincial chairman for the North Christopher Mzomera Ngwira confirmed of the development in an interview with the Press and said Gondwe still remains PP candidates in the by-elections.

The by elections will be conducted in Khwawa Ward in Karonga; Chibanja Ward in Mzuzu; Msikisi Ward in Mangochi, Zomba Central Ward in Zomba and Lutchenza Ward in Thyolo.
