POLICE CONFISCATE LIQUOR FROM VENDORS WHO DO NOT HAVE LICENCE

Police in Lilongwe have confiscated liquor from vendors who operated their businesses without license at Lumbadzi market.

According to police, the exercise will help in its quest to have vendors accredited by the city council.

National police deputy Spokesperson, Nicholas Gondwa says police want to make sure that liquor is sold with vendors with licenses.

He further said the exercise will also help to affect the ban of liquor sachets around the city following reports that some vendors are still selling the liquor on the market.

Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has since warned the business community in country against selling liquor packed in sachets and small plastic bottles.

The MBS has further advised business community to sell liquor packed in clean glass bottles to consumers in the country.
