COURT STOPS FIRED UDF VICE PRESIDENT FROM CONDUCTING MEETINGS USING PARTY COLOURS

United Democratic Front (UDF) National Executive Members (NEC) have obtained an injunction restraining its suspended Vice President Igbar Omar and two others from conducting meetings or any other activities using the Party’s symbol or colours.

The other officials affected by the injunction included Zaituna Yusufu who was expelled while serving as Deputy Director of Women and Mr. Moyenda.

UDF National Spokesperson Ken Ndanga confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying NEC officials obtained an Injunction from Lilongwe High Court after noting that Mr. Omar was still conducting its activities using Party colours.

Ndanga said the Party wants Mr. Omar to stop doing campaign using UDF colours, the slogan and other activities related to the Party.

The injunction was granted by Judge Lloyd Muhara on Monday.

Effort to talk to Omar on the matter proved futile as his mobile phone was not available.

Sources within the Party indicate that Omar was fired from the Party on the allegations that he was forming parallel structures in the Party.
