UNIVERSITY OF MALAWI STUDENTS NEED FEES NOT TO GO BEYOND K300,000

The University of Malawi Student union leaders have felt unhelpful to President Peter Mutharika’s decision on reducing the recent fees hike with only K50. 000 .00.

University of Malawi Student Union (UMSU) general secretary Dalitso Dulani said that they are not comfortable with K350,000 as it still is high.

“I think this is a time to map the way forward, K50000 is not enough for a fee reduction and fees must still fall,” said Dulani.

At first it was only Chancellor College Student union president Ayuba Sylvester James who was in disagreement to what Mutharika thought it would be acceptable in dialogue held last Wednesday.

However, on Sunday UMSU President Tiwonge Sikwese has also sided with others to see fees not to go beyond k300, 000.
