Teachers across the country have threatened for another national wide strike in September over failure by Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) to pay allowance of some teachers assigned to invigilate the just ended Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations.

The teachers have since given MANEB August 31 as the deadline to settle the said Invigilators and Supervisors.

Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) General Secretary Charles Kumchenga confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

“The Invigilators and Supervisors administered the just ended MSCE examination without receiving allowances from MANEB. When we contacted them of the allowanced they said they don’t have money,” said Kumchenga.

According to Kumchenga, TUM has written MANEB on the matter.

But MANEB Public Relations Officer Simeon Maganga said the body is yet to receive the letter.
