Livingstonia Synod constructs Tombstones for people killed by police during July 20 demonstrations

The Livingstonia Synod of the CCAP in the Northern region has finally constructed Tombstones for people killed by the police during the July 20, 2011 demonstrations.

The Tombstones will be unveiled on Thursday July 20, 2017, according to the Livingstonia Synod Secretariat.

On July 20, 2011, Malawians went to the street to express their anger over President Bingu wa Mutharika’s rule but the demonstration which were meant to be peaceful ended badly as others started looting shops.

The Police retaliated by firing live bullets at protesters and over 20 people were killed in the process.

Mutharika branded the people that were killed during the demonstrations as thieves.
