Mangochi Second Grade Magistrate Court has thrashed a 38-year old Man, Sailesi Chibingu to nine years Imprisonment with Hard Labour for allegedly defiling a 3-year old girl at Kafucheche village in the district.
The Court heard that the 38-year old Chibingu, took advantage of the absence of the mother who had gone to fetch water from a well to defile the girl in his house.
Chibingu is said to have enticed the girl with a banana and when the mother returned from the well, she found her daughter missing.
She looked for her and later found her daughter coming out of Chibingu’s house, and her walking was laboured.
She suspected something foul and reported the matter to neighbours who encouraged her to rush to police.
Medical examination at Mangochi District Hospital proved that the girl was defiled.
The maximum sentence to defilement which is contrary to section 138 of the penal code is 14 years.
Chibingu hails from Kafucheche village Traditional Authority Mponda in the district.
