MAN KILLED IN NKHOTAKOTA OVER MK200

Police in Nkhotakota are hunting for a man for allegedly killing his uncle following disagreements over settling of a debt of K200.

Nkhotakota Police spokesperson Williams Kaponda said Noah Phiri, 63, went to house of Maxwell Mtenje on April 1, 2016 to remind him to settle a debt of K200 he owed Phiri.

“Whilst there, a disagreement erupted and they began fighting. In the process, Phiri fell down and was unconscious after he was assaulted by Mtenje,” he said.

Kaponda said Phiri was rushed to Nkhotakota District Hospital where he died on April 2, 2016.

“Post-mortem has revealed that Phiri died due to severe head injuries. We’re currently looking for Mtenje who is currently at large to answer charges of murdering his uncle,” Kaponda said.

Phiri hailed from Chiboko Village, T/A Mphonde in Nkhotakota.mana
