Woman caught stealing money at a wedding in Blantyre

Unknown woman is in police custody for allegedly being caught red-handed stealing pelekani-pelekani money at a wedding at HHI on Sunday.

According to information at hand, the woman pretended to be part of the cashiers and she was picking money splashed by people to the newly wedded couple.

The whole issue came to light by the camera man who sported the woman keeping some of the money she was collecting on the floor.

The camera man then tipped the organizers of wedding who later reported the matter to police officers guarding the entry point.

After questioning, the woman confessed that they are a group of them who jump from one wedding to another stealing the cash by posing as part of the wedding team.

The picture of a woman being questioned while carrying a baby on her back has since gone viral on the social media.
