President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed new commissioners for Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).
This has been disclosed in a press statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) signed by Chief Secretary to the President George Mkondiwa.
According to the list seen by FaceofMalawi which comprises of eight members, Mutharika has maintained Ms. Elvey Mtafu from the previous commissioners who managed the 2014 tripartite elections.
Mutharika has also roped in Livingstonia Synod CCAP clergy Rev Clifford Baloyi and Rev. Killion Mgawi.
Other appointees are, Moffat Banda, former deputy governor of Reserve Bank of Malawi Ms Mary Nkosi, Yahaya M’madi and activist Linda Kunje.
Meanwhile Maxon Mbendera still remains MEC Chairperson.
