MPs unanimously defer National Assembly vote: says the allocations is not enough

Minister of Finance and Economic Development Goodall Gondwe on Monday was left with no option but to defer Parliament vote after Members of Parliament especially those from opposition demanded an increment, saying MK9 billion is not enough.

The MPs wanted the National assembly allocation to be adjusted from the proposed MK9 billion to MK12 billion.

The whole issue was started by People’s Party Member of Parliament for Zomba Changalume John Chikalimba who said the budgetary allocation to the house is not enough, saying the house has a lot of duties to fulfill.

Chikalimba then suggested an adjustment of MK3 billion.

The call was backed by Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Publicity Secretary who is also MP for Salima North-West Jessie Kabwila.

Gondwe tried to convince the MPs who wanted more money for their budget but this did not yield any results and he then deferred the vote to a later time.
