Man commits suicide in Lilongwe

A man in Lilongwe was in the early hours of Thursday found hanging on a tree after committing suicide for unknown reasons.

The man identified as Milias Foster, 58 years old, from Chimalizeni Village, TA Kabudula in Lilongwe hanged himself near his house around 7 o’clock in the morning.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (MANA), Lilongwe Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Margret Selemani confirmed the death and said the matter was reported to police by Sidon Foster from the same village.

She said, the deceased went on a drinking spree around 4 pm on August 10 and returned to the house at around 11 pm where he found his wife sleeping.

The deceased then went out of the house minutes later and was found hanging on a tree near his house the following morning.

The matter was reported to Chitedze Police unit.

Police and a medical officer went to the scene and established that the death was due to suffocation.mana
