Chatinkha wages war against Chakwera: ‘I was born MCP, I will die MCP’

Expelled Malawi Congress Party (MCP) member Chatinkha Chidzanja Nkhoma has challenged the Party’s President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for firing her, saying Chakwera has flouted the Party’s constitution.

Chatinkha told journalists in Lilongwe that what the party leadership is doing to expel some members in the party for speaking out is an indication of the growing lack of intraparty democracy in the MCP.

“He should have listened to our side of the story before firing us as provided for in our constitution. Why are they trying to block us from expressing our views?

“I did not apply to Join MCP but I was born and brought up in MCP. Even Chakwera himself found me in MCP so where have you seen or heard a tenant evicting the Land lord,” said Chatinkha.

She said she will continue advocating for the convention and the immediate resignation of Chakwera describing him as the worst leader the Party has ever had.

On his part, Member of Parliament for Salima Central Felix Jumbe who has also been booted out of the Party said he is waiting for official communication on his firing.

“I cannot comment much now but am waiting for official communication,” said Jumbe.

On Wednesday, the Party expelled Jumbe, Chatinkha, Azam Mwale and Denis Nathumba for allegedly bring confusion in the Party.

The Party also suspended its spokesperson Jessie Kabwira and law maker Joseph Njobvuyalema for allegedly having a hand in the botched torching of MCP offices in the capital Lilongwe.

Meanwhile Chakwera has defended the firing, saying it’s in line with the Party’s constitution.
