Countries ban Bushiri amass

Following the recent decree made by Botswana Government that Malawian evangelist Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has to apply for visa before entering the country, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship has said that they are not yet received visa application from him.

Controversial South Africa-based Bushiri needs to apply for a visa before entering Botswana, after he was put on Visa restrictions by the Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Edwin Batshu on April 26, 2017.

The department’s Chief Public Relations Officer Hannah Ramorogo told Mmegi in an interview that their Visa Division has not received an application from the evangelist.

“The Visa Division where applications are received and processed is not aware of the application having come through. I will confirm with the Director but for now they have not received any application from Bushiri,” she said.

Bushiri commands a strong following in Botswana, with multitudes attending his services and crusades in South Africa. He is the leader of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) in Pretoria, South Africa.

Malawians like South Africans, do not require visa to enter Botswana, but Bushiri is not the first one to be put under visa restrictions after Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema was also placed on visa list a few years ago.

Other countries like Swaziland and Tanzania also barred him from entering to do his services.

Meanwhile, Zambia pastors, include Godfridah Sumaili have vowed to see Bushiri barred in their country after having exchanged life threatening words with him.
