Two Top Kenyan Hotels Ordered to Stop Operating, Says they Were Linked to Cholera Outbreak

Two top hotels in Nairobi, Kenya have been ordered to stop operating after it has been revealed that they were linked to cholera outbreak.

Kenyas Minister of Health, Cleopa Mailu said the hotels had supplied food to an event where cholera was reported to have emerged.

The two hotels have been identified as San Valencia and Jacaranda.

It is said that 336 cases of cholera were reported in Nairobi since May and three people have already been reported dead due to the outbreak.

Just in June, 50 visitors who attended the international medical conference held in Nairobi lavish western hotel had fallen sick with symptoms associated with cholera.

Meanwhile, Nairobi county health executive Dr. Bernad Muia said all the restaurants in the area are being checked.

“We are mapping out any eatery regardless of the category and also validating the food handlers,” he told Nairobi`s media.

All water services will also be thoroughly checked, according to the country`s Health Minister.
