Three people arrested for illegal possession of firearm

Police in Salima have arrested three people over illegal possession of a firearm.

Salima Police spokesperson Gift Chitowe confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the state controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC 1).

The suspects have been identified as 43 year-old Nathan Chathyoka of Kasisi village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chapananga in Chikwawa district; 44 year-old Maganizo Namba and 32 year-old Jennifer Chanika, both from Nthenga village, T/A Kaphuka in Dedza district.

The three will appear in court soon to answer charges of illegal possession of a fire arm.
