School Director Sentenced for Embezzling Student’s Fees

Limbe Second Grade Magistrate has convicted and sentenced a 45-year-old Harmony Private Primary School Director identified as Alfred Kapito aged 45 to one year imprisonment.

The sentence has been suspended on conditions that the convict must teach the pupils free of charge for a year and also to pay 2019 MANEB Examinations fees plus Identity cards.

The convict was answering the charge of theft in December 2017 after collecting K169 000 examination fees from 32 pupils and defrauded them to have deposited into MANEB Bank account.

All seemed to be well until on May 13 this year when it was discovered that the names of the pupils were missing on the nominal roll.

The offender pleaded guilty before court and was consequently sentenced to one imprisonment but conditionally suspended.

Kapito comes from John village in Traditional Authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu district.
