Misoszi Chanthunya murder case to resume on December 11

The murder case of Misonzi Chanthunya is scheduled to return to Court on December 11, 2019, Faceofmalawi can reveal.

Registrar of the High Court of Malawi and Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal, Agnes Patemba confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Matemba, the Judge to handle the case is yet to be identified.

Matemba said that Justice Chifundo Kachale, who was initially assigned to the case, will be committed on the said dates and they are looking for a new judge.

Chanthunya is accused of murdering his girlfriend Linda Gasa, a student from Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA).

Chanthunya arrived in the country in March this year after eight years in South Africa, where he was located by International Police in January 2012.

Through a South African court, Chanthunya challenged his extradition, arguing that he would be sentenced to death as capital punishment remains intact in the laws of Malawi.

Chanthunya is currently on Supreme Court bail pending the hearing.
