Presidential polls case adjourned to November 25

Constitutional Court has adjourned the ongoing Presidential polls case where Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) are demanding nullification of the May 21 polls to November 25, 2019.

The adjournment came barely hours after Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Ben Phiri started testifying in defence of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

The case adjourned on high intense as lawyer for the first petitioner Dr. Saulos Chilima, Dr. Chikosa Sulungwe pressed Phiri on his academic qualifications.

Phiri was rescued by Mutharika’s lawyer Frank Mbeta.

The case has since been adjourned to November 25 and it will run for two weeks.
