‘Sick’ Muluzi to head commonwealth observers in Swaziland

Date:

Former head of state, Bakili Muluzi, whose corruption cases have been dragging due to his sickness is set to head commonwealth observers in an election in Swaziland. The elections are expected to take place on September 20.

Muluzi will be a chair of an executive five member panel meant to oversee the elections in the surviving African kingdom. The members are expected to be there from September 15.

Ironically, Muluzi has expressed optimism to chair the panel and be in Swaziland while back home he has found it hard to stand in court on allegations that he embezzled MK 1.7 billion while he was the head of state from 1994 – 2004 because of sickness.

It is yet to be seen how he will be able to chair the panel of observers.
