“I am back because of the Lightning tragedy,” says President Banda.

President Dr. Joyce Banda who has arrived back in the country today says she has had to cut short her trip in Nigeria due to the tragedy in Lilongwe in which a lightning struck a Seventh Day church killing 14 people in the process.

Speaking to MBC reporters, President Banda said that it was due to the tragedy that she had decided to cut short her visit to Nigeria where she had gone on a private visit but was on Sunday seen on TB Joshua’s Emmanuel TV being prayed for and congregating with other believers.

On leaving, it had been announced that President Banda’s visit would be for three days but with time the visit went on extended without any explanation given.

Yesterday, Vice President Khumbo Kachali was joined by Malawi Congress Party President, Lazarus Chakwera, to bury seven of the dead.

The fourteen died after a lightning struck the church they were praying in at Lilongwe’s Area 36 SDA church.
