MEC WINS GOLDEN KEY AWARD

Media Institute of Southern Africa has hailed the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) for its openness in handling and disseminating sensitive public information.

MISA Malawi Chairperson Anthony Kasunda said this on Wednesday at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre after presenting the Golden Key Award to the Commission.

On his part, MEC Chairperson Maxon Mbendera expressed his gratitude to his fellow Commissioners and management for the body to be recognised.

Mbendera assured the nation that the MEC would like to win it again next year.

“We will continue perfecting our work so that we retain the award next year,” Justice Mbendera.

The Golden Key Award was initiated by MISA Malawi to promote the right to know by encouraging organisations to release information to the public.
