IVORY BURNING SAGA UPDATES: TANZANIAN GOVT FINED MK1 MILLION

Mzuzu High Court Judge Dingiswayo Madise has fined the Tanzania government MK1 million for late application against the Malawi government decision to burn 2.6 tonnes of ivory valued at MK4.5 billion.

The burning ceremony was scheduled to take place today in Mzuzu.

In a court file seen by FaceofMalawi, the Tanzanian government wants the ivory to be preserved as evidence in cases still in her courts.
