MALAWIANS BACK TO SOUTH AFRICA DESPITE THE HORRIBLE INCIDENT OF XENOPHOBIA

It seems that Malawians have already forgotten the terrible experience they went through during xenophobic attack in South Africa early this year.

The development comes after five Malawians have been stopped from travelling to South Africa because they had no proper documents at Dedza border post, despite the recent attacks on foreigners in the rainbow nation.

According to the posts spokesperson, James Tambula the five men were in a bus registration ND 799-206 Travelling to South Africa from Mzimba district.

Tambula identified them as Mphala Zimba aged 22, Francis Kaunda 21, Stephano Ndasha 22, Phikisani Zimba 21 and Amosi Sakala 41 all from Kasungu District.

During routine checks they failed to produce passports and they admitted that they had no documents but still wanted to go to South Africa, so we detained them and went back because it’s illegal said Tambula

Malawians are increasingly going to South Africa to seek greener pastures following the lure of jobs however exit is only for those with valid documents.

Malawi immigration department has tightened security especially in light of xenophobic attacks in South Africa which forced the government to vomit millions of kwacha in repatriating the Malawians.
