LIMBANI SIMENTI IS BACK WITH NEW ALBUM

Limbani Simenti says all is set for second album which is to be launched at the Blantyre Cultural Centre on August 28.

Simenti was born on 10, 1981 in Ndirande Township, he holds diploma in Theology and  started singing with the Mount Sinai Choir while he was in Standard 3.

According to Simenti, he noticed that gospel music was his calling as grew older and then produced a hit song “Ndikuoneni” which mapped his name on public.

However, his career nursed while he went to South Africa. He joined Shammah Community Church in Cape Town, where he served both as a member of the praise team and pastor. Then he relocated to Table-view from Nyanga where he joined the City Church. It was at this church where he encountered the gifted pianist and singer Sarajane Grieve.

“She helped me to understand the musical basics. She also introduced me to Trevor Samson, who is mostly into Jazz. And for your own information, this guy was Wambali Mkandawire’s music school classmate and friend. The greatest thing I learnt from Trevor was patience,” Simenti disclosed it to staff reporter of Malawi-Miusic.com.

‘Ndikuoneni’ singer is now back with a second album titled ‘Gwada Upemphere’ which will first be launched at the Blantyre Cultural Centre on August 28.

Thereafter, Simenti will proceed to Mlambe Motel in Balaka on September 4, before hiting Lilongwe’s Shelfer ICA Marquee on September 25.

“Plans for Mzuzu are currently on hold as we had challenges in identifying the venue. But after Lilongwe, we will return to the drawing board, just for the sake of the Green City,” he said.

Comparing ‘Gwada Upemphere’ to his first cut ‘Lungusani Impilo, which housed the hit single ‘Ndikuoneni’, Simenti said the new album is seven times far greater.

“The first album was more of an experimental feat. I really had no idea on how Malawians would receive me. While I was really sure of what I was doing in this new album.

“I have, however, maintained the key theme of hope in this second album,” he said

Songs in the new album include ‘bwanji mulowelerepo’ and has gone under two producers; Joseph Tembo of Groove Magic and Dick Kankhunda of Wakankhunda Multi Media.

The Blantyre launch will also feature the Great Angels Choir, Thoko Katimba, Ndirande Anglican Voices, King James Phiri and Steve Muliya among others.
