Deputy Mayor for Kasungu Hlupekire Chabvundikira dumps MCP, joins DPP

Kasungu Municipal Council Deputy Mayor Hlupekire Chabvundikira has joined the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) after dumping the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Chabvundikira was welcomed by DPP’s Secretary General Greseider Jeffrey wa Jeffrey at a rally held in the district on Tuesday.

Speaking in an interview with the press after the announcement, Chabvundikira said the squabbles rocking MCP has forced her to dump the party.
She said DPP is the only party that can bring development in the country.

On her part, Jeffrey wa Jeffrey expressed gratitude with the decision taken by Chabvundikira.

Meanwhile MCP officials are yet to comment on the matter.
