Businessman Zimbulani says Ongoing Political Stalemate has Highly Affected SMEs in the Country

By Robert Kumwenda and Orchestra Kamanga

Renowned Blantyre business entrepreneur Donex Zimbulani has said that the ongoing political instability which the country has been going through after the May post elections results has negatively affected the operations of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) businesses in the country.

Zimbulani

He said it could have been better if those that are responsible put this matter to rest for the benefit of ordinary Malawians who are suffering.

“But the problem that we are having is that there is  no spirit of patriotism among our political leaders to bury their differences and find a lasting solution for the sake of the country,” he said.

Zimbulani who is the owner of Donz Engineering located near Kamba market in Blantyre said he does not see this ending in the near future as everyone is minding his own business at the expense of those who are paying the prize.

He said contractors are not getting contracts because government has no money saying that they rely on them to buy them things like door flames, window flames and alike.

The Blantyre based business entrepreneur said it is like a food chain saying that there must be the spirit of tolerance and willingness to end the political tension by those who are fighting as this will never take the country anywhere.

Zimbulani further said that most projects are at stand still as government is eagerly waiting for the verdict from the court.

Billions of kwachas and lives have been lost, and property being destroyed following the demonstrations championed by the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) aimed at forcing the Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Justice Dr Jane Ansah to resign over the way she managed the May tripartite elections.
