India – An elderly woman in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal managed to escape a rape attempt after he bit off the tongue of a man who made an attempt to rape her. The incident took place on Sunday night when the entire nation was observing the Janta Curfew.

The two accused have been identified as Rockey Mohammad and Chhotu Mohammad. While the entire nation stayed indoors on Sunday to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the two accused men in Siliguri entered a woman’s house with the intent of outraging her modesty.

At around 8.30 pm on Sunday, Rockey and Chhotu entered the elderly woman’s home located in Paharpur. The woman lives alone and she tried to raise an alarm when the two men barged in. After the woman resisted, the accused allegedly thrashed her.

Chhotu pinned the senior citizen down and Rockey allegedly pounced on her. According to The Times of India’s report, when Rockey tried to prevent the woman from shouting, she allegedly bit his tongue into two.

Rockey started screaming in pain after he was bitten and Chhotu fled from the spot. Rockey was rushed to Jalpaiguri super speciality hospital but the doctors could not sew his tongue back. According to the doctors, it was too late to conduct the procedure. After initial treatment, Rockey was shifted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
