BCC Installs Water Buckets in 34 Markets to Counter COVID-19

As a move to ensure that people are following hand washing habit in Blantyre to counter COVID-19, Blantyre City Council has placed water buckets mixed with chlorine in all strategic points in all 34 market within the city.

Councils Mayor, Wild Ndipo said that the council wants the market users to embrace these preventive measure mostly this time when Malawi is under the threat of the pandemic.

“Let us make a resolve to do the right thing during this time when we are under the threat of contracting this life threatening virus,” he said.

He urged the market users to take part in fighting the pandemic.

“We would like to urge all of us to do our part by joining the council fight this pandemic, in so doing, we will together overcome this problem,” he said.

Meanwhile, Blantyre City Council has declared a month long ‘Make Your Environment Coronavirus FreeCampaign’ to ensure that every resident is taking lead in abiding by the measures that have been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus
