MEC rejects Smart Swira’s nomination papers

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has rejected nomination papers from Independent Presidential Candidate Smart Swira for failing to meet of the requirements.
MEC Director of Media and Public Relations, Sangwani Mwafulirwa confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Mwafulirwa, Mr. Swira has failed to deposit a nomination fee of MK2 million.
He has until 4 PM to pay and submit the papers if he is to proceed with his bid for presidency.
