Three netted for the death of 5-year-old boy in Chikwawa

Police in Chikwawa District have arrested three men for allegedly being involved in the murder of a five-year old boy, Promise Njanji.

The district’s Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Dickson Matemba, said the three suspects have been identified as businessman Rodwel Faifolo aged 38 of Dausi Village, Million Mdyamidzu, 38 and Selevasi Pongwe aged 69 both from Tombondera Village under Traditional Authority Chapananga in the district.

Matemba told Malawi News Agency (Mana) Wednesday afternoon that the three were arrested on Sunday.

“Njanji, who was a Standard One learner at Dzinthenga Primary School, was brutally murdered and his body was found dumped in the garden within the village of Bankamu on 23 July, 2020, without private parts.

“The murder prompted police detectives to investigate and arrest the suspects,” said Matemba.

He further said the three suspects have been remanded at Chikwawa Prison pending further investigations.

Meanwhile, Chikwawa Police Station has commended the community and community policing structures in the district for good working relationship with the police.
