Woman Dies After ‘Witch Doctor’ Thrashes Her

A witch doctor in Hyderabad allegedly brutally thrashed a ‘possessed’ woman to rid her of evil spirits. The woman breathed her last late night on Monday. The woman had not been sick for the last four months.

The woman was identified as Rajitha. Rajitha was a resident of Jaipur mandal. She succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital in Karimnagar. The woman had not been keeping well and due to the same, her family suspected that she had been possessed by evil spirits.

Around one-and-a-half years ago, Rajitha got married to Mallesh. Four months ago, the woman gave birth to a baby. The woman had not been keeping well, due to which, her family assumed that she had been possessed.

Rajitha’s parents passed away and her husband had been residing with her in-laws in Jaipur. The accused was identified as Shyam. Shyam was called by Rajitha’s family to treat her.

The accused allegedly started slapping the woman, pulled her by her hair and pushed her on a cot to rid her of the spirits. The family members of the woman remained silent spectators as the accused kept thrashing her. When Rajitha’s health started deteriorating, she was rushed to the Karimnagar hospital where she breathed her last, The Times of India reported.

A police official privy to the case said that the post-mortem of the deceased was conducted on Tuesday. He added, “The post-mortem will reveal the cause of the death. We have already registered cases against those involved in the incident. “
